An idea. A group of individuals, brought together by one passionate
form of driving. Drifting. A few friends who would hit the local
tracks monthly in Southern California.
The more events we attended together, the closer we became. Sharing
tools, ideas and driving techniques we had learned at previous events.
After a year or so of driving together and developing a strong trust,
came a solid friendship.
Start a team? What would we call ourselves?
There were several names that were thrown around but only one would
truly represent how we drive and express are feelings about Drifting
A two part name.
Slide: [slahyd]
-verb (used without object)
1. to move along in continuous contact with a smooth or slippery
surface: to slide down a snow-covered hill.
2. to slip or skid.
3. to glide or pass smoothly.
A common word we use freely to describe Drifting. Fluid and smooth
transistions. Now, smooth lines and confidence is great and all, but
we drive aggressive and wanted to deliver that in our name as well.
Assassin: as·sas·sin [uh-sas-in]
-noun
1. a murderer, especially one who kills a politically prominent person
for fanatical or monetary reasons.
Slide Assassin: Describes each driver on our Team.
Why do we need a Team?
We wanted to be more than a drift crew but not a commercial team
dictated by big corporate companies either. A pro team to run Formula
D and other exciting events as ONE.
A team was formed and goals set into place. Become licensed
professional drivers. Along the way we managed to pick up some great
sponsors who truly believe in us, and helped with expenses.
In our first year Michael Essa earned his licence and participated in
all but one Formula D event in the 2009 season. (finishing as runner
up for rookie of year)
In our second year Luke Pakula aka:Party Boy, earned his Formula D
license and is currently participating in the 2010 Formula D season
along side team mate Michael Essa.
These two drivers have set out to become Pro at all costs and have
sacrificed everything. Time, money and literally blood , sweat and
tears. Soon enough you will see their end of season video along with
short films containing bio information.
These two Drivers have made such a huge impact in the Drift community
at both local and major events. Making friends at every event. Most
people would call them “fans”. We don’t.
With your help. We have been able to accomplish small feats.
Merchandise was made and sold, drift events organized bringing the
possibilty of this website and a team uniform.
This has been all possible because of YOU.
You are the back bone of this team and what makes it go. Our friends
and family that have stood by us for the last two years is who we owe
our success too. You have purchased our merchandise or attended our
Drift events.
This is your team.
Our goal remains the same. We will make you proud to wear those shirts
and display those logos at all the events we attend. Let people know
who YOUR Team is and who you are there to Cheer.
“Go-Slide Assassins-Go-Go-Go!”
We are truly blessed to have friends and family like you all over the
world and by far the strongest support that any team could ever ask for.
Who am I? a creation of you, SLIDE ASSASSINS.
Please, meet with your drivers and your staff when you see us at an
event near you, so we may give you Thea Official Slide Assassins Hug.
We love you and can not thank you enough.
Slide Happy!!
